HOW TO GET THE BEST RESULTS

1

LAY FLAT

Place fabric on a flat, stable surface.

2

KEEP TAUT

Make sure fabric is smooth and taut.

3

SHORT, EVEN STROKES

Work gently across fabric.

4

LIGHT PRESSURE

Let the shaver do the work.

Important: Take extra care around seams, buttons, zips, embroidery, folds and puckered fabric. Do not apply heavy pressure.

CARE & BLADE REPLACEMENT +

Important: Never force the blade onto the shaft. Place it gently onto the shaft and turn it slightly until it aligns and drops naturally into position.

Forcing the blade down before tightening the outer foil can push the internal fan backwards, causing excessive noise and poor shaving performance.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does a fabric shaver do? +

A fabric shaver removes pilling, fuzz and matted surface fibres that can make clothing and household fabrics look worn. The Classic 50 gently shaves these unwanted fibres from the surface to give fabric a smoother, fresher appearance.

Why choose a mains powered fabric shaver? +

The Classic 50 is mains powered, providing consistent power throughout use. There are no batteries to replace and no need to stop and recharge, making it particularly convenient when working on larger garments or household fabrics.

What causes fabric to pill? +

Pilling is caused by friction during normal wear and washing, which causes loose fibres to work their way to the surface and tangle together into small balls or pills. It commonly occurs in high friction areas such as under the arms, across the bust, inside sleeves and between the legs.

Will removing the pills stop my clothes from pilling again? +

It depends on the fabric. Some fabrics, particularly those containing synthetic fibres, will naturally continue to pill with wear and friction. However, a thorough shave can give a much longer-lasting result. For best results, don’t just remove the visible pills. Continue gently shaving the area to remove the dense, matted surface fibres underneath. The more thoroughly these matted fibres are removed, the longer the fabric will generally stay looking smooth and refreshed.

What fabrics can I use the Classic 50 on? +

The Classic 50 can be used on many clothing and household fabrics including knitwear, windcheaters, polar fleece, T-shirts, jackets, uniforms, scarves, socks, sheets, blankets, lounge suites and car upholstery. Always test on an inconspicuous area first and take extra care with delicate, loose, thin or textured fabrics.

Can a fabric shaver damage clothing? +

Yes, a fabric shaver can damage fabric if it is used incorrectly. Always place the fabric on a flat surface, keep it smooth and taut, use short, even strokes and apply only light pressure. Take particular care around seams, buttons, zips, embroidery, folds and puckered areas.

Can I use the Classic 50 on furniture and upholstery? +

Yes. The Classic 50 can be used on suitable household fabrics including lounge suites and car upholstery. Keep the area as flat and taut as possible, use light pressure and test an inconspicuous area first.

How do I get the best results? +

Place the fabric on a flat, stable surface and make sure it is smooth and taut. Work across the fabric using short, even strokes and light pressure. Allow the shaver to do the work rather than pressing it firmly into the fabric.

How often should I empty and clean the lint catcher? +

Empty the lint catcher regularly and do not allow it to become more than three-quarters full. Overfilling can restrict the flow of lint into the catcher and prevent lint from clearing its path properly. Keeping the lint catcher and shaving head clear of accumulated lint helps maintain effective performance.

How do I clean the Classic 50? +

Switch off and unplug the Fabric Shaver before cleaning. Empty the lint catcher and use the supplied cleaning brush to remove accumulated lint and fibres from the shaving area. Take care around the blades as they are sharp.

When should I replace the blades? +

If you notice the Fabric Shaver is no longer removing pills and fuzz as effectively as it previously did, the blades may need replacing. Replacement blades are available separately to help keep your Classic 50 performing effectively over time.

How do I reinstall the blade correctly? +

Never force the blade onto the shaft. Place it gently onto the shaft and turn it slightly until it aligns and drops naturally into position. Forcing the blade down before tightening the outer foil can push the internal fan backwards, causing excessive noise and poor shaving performance. Please refer to the blade replacement video for a demonstration.

Why is my Fabric Shaver making excessive noise or not shaving properly after replacing the blade? +

This can sometimes happen if the blade has not been correctly seated during reassembly. Please unplug the Fabric Shaver and call us on (03) 9318 6338 for troubleshooting assistance. In most cases, we can help resolve the issue over the phone.

Can I use the Classic 50 overseas? +

The Classic 50 is 240V AC, 50Hz, 5W and has an Australian plug. Check the local voltage requirements before using it outside Australia. A plug adaptor alone does not change the electrical voltage.
